MoreCooler.com: It's more cooler with the thing

Ok, I've added a cheap file uploader thing to the menu on the right there ("File Thingy.") You can upload files in there and also download them. (And delete them when the get old.)

I don't suggest posting links straight to the file in posts or comments as those are public viewable whereas the File Thingy is only viewable if you are logged in. (But the file download links themselves aren't protected directly.. hey, I did say "cheap!")

So have at it. I've put up the maestro thing just to make sure it works..

Unlike Martin's nicely told narrative, Matt resorts to short, simple sentences, and much use of the $user variable.

It has a problem with my name, it apparently likes to say it over and over again in conversation. Scary...

That seems a bit small...

Since we're now uploading to my damn webspace... My web host is a jerk. ;-)

Did I forget to mention Bryce is charged per the MB for all this??? :)

Regarding the 20meg limit.. I don't want to make it too huge.. I have to increase a ton of settings in php and such so it has enough memory and junk to handle the data.. and since this is a shared-hosting server, I don't want some other customer going crazy and crashing things..

Perhaps a better way to handle it would by a combination of an anonymous (or, perhaps, keyed to our Morecooler logins)FTP server with an incoming directory, combined with a PHP app for listing and providing download functions for the contents of that directory.

y'all can ask Matt for FTP accounts and put your stuff there. =)

Just one ftp account we can all share.. its not like we're putting stuff up individually or anything. That might work.. The ftp justs adds one more step and I was trying to be simple :)

I think this is just as complex as FTP. =)

Any one else notice that Bryce and I had exactly the same idea, one minute apart? Bryce, am I right in that you posted before mine had shown up? Or are you even more refresh-happy than Matt?
