Well-written

Michael Moore responds to claims that "Bowling for Columbine" is fiction.

Interesting read; he's got a good command of the language. I haven't been following this whole deal much, so I don't know if he addresses all pertinent claims with relation to the film, but it does rather neatly cut down much of his opposition.

Is he dishonest?

Well, that's hard to say. He certainly does mislead in his books. For example, in Downsize This, he wrote:
"As I've pointed out, over 60 percent of the voting-age population in this country did not vote in the 1994 election. Of the remaining 38 percent who did show up at the polls, Republicans got a little more than half the vote. This means that Newt Gingrich has been ruling America with only 20 percent of this country having voted for his agenda. . . Nearly 80 percent of Americans did not want Newt Gingrich running the show." (All italics are his)
That's my big problem with Michael Moore. He has become the left's answer to Rush Limbaugh. Maybe he's not aware of the logical fallacy of the above quote, but I'd suspect he is just being sneaky. There's other examples of things he's been called on. For example, he did take advantage of Charlton Heston in the movie. The man is not well, and has symptoms similar to those of Alzheimer's. The NRA takes advantage of him as well, but that's no excuse. Then there's the thing about people not locking their doors. It was the middle of the afternoon. Right now, our front door is OPEN! That doesn't mean we leave it unlocked at night.

Fiction? No. Honest? Not exactly. If you want a book making a great case for the left, check out Al Franken's newest. It's really great.
