On a related side note, one of the more interesting things I've learned as an English major is that the whole "God uses lightning to punish" idea is NOT from the bible. It's an old convention, going back to Zeus and other pagan gods, which modern Christians have unknowingly adopted. Kind of interesting.
God is more of a terrorist type. He goes for biological weapons and stuff; y'know, plagues, locusts, that sort of mess. And the occasional flood.
