Both of the boys got down on the floor and then they heard the voice again I sort of needed a little vacation.

WHAT THE #@$%@!#$!!? Since when do selected passages from Tom Sawyer convince me to buy a platinum card?

I guess maybe it's one of those "forward random text found on computer with virus attached" trojans, but there was neither an attachment nor a notification of virus removal. Odd.

Hmmm...

It has just occured to me that asdfd@mwoody.com is about to get spammed even more, now that I've posted it...

Maybe . . .

That would fool some spam filters, since it is actual prose? Still don't see how it would get you to get a Platinum Card.

Palominos

You used that address when we were organizing for Palominos for Sean's BD. At least I'm pretty sure. You can always check.

common spam signature

this system (attaching portions of literary works as the text of the message) is a common spam method these days.... it has a couple different aspects to it. First, it will fool some spam filters as chris pointed out. Second, some spam filters might only look at the text section when there are text and HTML sections. I bet that you have an HTML section to that message, too, and THAT is where the part related to the credit card is.

Hunh

That makes sense. Actually, the more I looked, the more of these I found; been having fun tracking down which blurb comes from which work. Kind of like English trivia in my Inbox.

Jeff, you're right on the address, good call. We're going to have to spam-protect our addresses here, it appears. Bryce, maybe an automatic conversion? Make the mailto on our names replace the @ with "AT" or something?
