Coupling taping
I went to a Coupling taping yesterday. I'd never been to a TV taping before, so it was kinda cool to see how it's done and all that. The only problem is that the audience warmer SUCKED. His job is to keep the audience entertained between takes and during set-ups and stuff. His overall plan seemed to be to systematically offend the entire audience. He kept asking where people were visiting from, and then he'd make fun of their people. He asked the people from Israel if they had gone to some deli in LA. He did an Apu-style accent to talk about the Indian people. I almost felt bad for him. Almost. The plus side was that it seems that if I can't work with my CSC degree, the standards for audience warmers isn't very high so maybe I could do that.
Oh, and also among the most annoyed in the audience was
Anthony Michael Hall or, as Katie now calls him, Tony Mike.

Cool
Just notice I forgot to reply to this post, sorry...
So, did y'all get to talk to Mr. Weird Science himself?
No.
Hmph. He looked, actually, not too thrilled to be there. Or, I guess more like he was wary of being mobbed. He was just kinda quiet, smiled every once in awhile at something being said, but I think he was paying more attention to what was going on on the set than in the audience. Guess that's not too surprising, though.
Poor Tony Mike
He was sitting right up front next to where the audience warmer was, so he was probably covered in that guy's flop sweat. ;-)
Tony Mike and the lady with him were both wearing leather jackets, and when they arrived (a couple mins after the audience warmer started up), the audience warmer said something like "Look, all the cool people have leather jackets!" and held up his jacket to show that he was cool (he fooled no one). I don't think he actually recognized that he was trying to group himself in with a celebrity, nor did he seem to notice the look of "No, you're not" that he received from Tony Mike, and it looked like from then on, he attempted to tune him out.
I did see him shake hands with some people on the way out, and he seemed friendly enough. He didn't stop to chat or anything, but he wasn't rude either.
