Attention D2 players

NOTE: See my reply before downloading...

Sean, in case you didn't find it, here's the website for ATMA. For everyone else, this program is a sweeeeet little app that removes the need for a multi-machine setup or mules in Diablo II w/expansion w/1.10 beta patch. It essentially lets you move stuff on/off any character and either on to another character or into a special stash file. This is NOT an editor; it will not edit stats or items, just move the items around.

There's one very, very cool thing about this program, though, with the new version: it includes a converter so you can upgrade to 1.10s without losing any of your items! Yay!

Gonna try to upgrade right now; I'll let y'all know if I have any problems with it. Hell, might even upload my stash if y'all are interested.

Oh, and for those looking for a fun build, I have a lvl70 Amazon with 20 points in both poison javalin and plague javalin and, thanks to synergies and a +8 from items, it deals roughly 15k-16k damage over about 13 seconds. It actually says "15k-16k" in the character screen; the damage no longer fit in the box in whole numbers. ^_^ Saw it go over 20k once with a skill shrine. Also got points in Valk (level 20 as well) and decoy, as well as a bad-ass Barbarian merc with monster scaring equipment (first time I've found this ability anything other than annoying), so I can deal with poison immunes.

!@#$!@#$

AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID the new version of ATMA. Apparently, "convert stash files to 1.10s" means "delete all the items in your 1.10 stash file just like they would have been deleted from your character". Plus, ATMA seems to like to hunt down stash files IN OTHER DIRECTORIES and delete them. I _almost_ lost all my stuff.

For those of you who don't want this crappy new patch, or who need to restore 1.10 version 1, I'm uploading it to the file thingy (I dunno if Blizz deleted the old beta patch or not). Be sure to use revertTo109.BAT or whatever it's called first (found in the D2 directory).

I'm also uploading the old ATMA installer, i.e. the one that works with 1.10 version 1. Use this, NOT the version downloadable from above, if you're using a non-1.10s install.

In the meantime, I'm going to search online for a solution to this mess. Some of the fixes in 1.10s sound nice, but that item deletion thing is unacceptable.

I take it this doesn't work on closed...

I've been playing closed for a few weeks. Amazing how many hacks are on the closed servers. The 1.1 stuff looks like a lot of fun, but I would really hate it if they did too much rebalancing.

Just a quick question: Do casting delays still apply to all spells, or just the spell that is cast in 1.1?

Posted by jeff on 8/13/03 at 7:03AM

All spells.

Yeah, that casting delay thing is a killer. If my valk dies, and I have to resummon, I'm without magical offense for a good five seconds or so.

Yah really gotta try 1.10, though, although I guess you might just wait 'till it's on BNET. Synergies alone make it so worth it. Damn if it ain't hard, now, though - there are some lvl 99 hacked builds that are not playable in hell. o_O

Basically, as far as rebalancing goes, the underlying purpose behind 1.10 seems to be: "nerfing pisses people off, so rather than nerf the powerful stuff, let's make everything way more powerful, including both the players and the monsters."

I can't wait to try one of the new uniques: "Cast level 39 meteor on death." ^_^

I want to try something...

Have you seen those jewels that cast some level 40 area effect spell on death or level up? It would be cool to get a very low level barb hireling fully suited with as many of those as possible. Then you could use him as a kamikaze. March him into some large group of guys, and watch the fireworks. I don't know how they stack though, and don't have more than one to test with.

Oh, and one more thing...

Just for future reference Martin, when you post a link to a piece of software in your post, there is a chance people will download it. When you later realize that it is "!@#$!@#$" dangerous and make a comment, maybe you should edit the main post, either removing the linking text or saying "please see comment #1" or something.

Thanks for the old files

I was pulling out my hair...not that I have any to spare...yesterday because I couldn't get any of my chars to work.

I'm waiting for the official release

Been playing online, I got a lvl 80 Pal and a 70+ Sorc. I've waited putting many of my sorc points down though. I'll probably go Meteor as my second spell (primary being frozen orb) with some Nova for backup.

Right now, I'm playing with guys who do Cow Runs. I hear they are fixing that in the patch, but those runs level you up like you would not believe. Playing with a lvl 99 Amazon too is... interesting. I swear, they are so broken. Just multishot the heck out of everything really quickly. Pals and Barbs have to actually stand next to a creature and swipe, while Sorc can't dish out that much damage. Anyway, I'll be waiting for the 1.1 upgrade, but I'll be jumping into Star Wars Galaxies pretty soon.

D2 resurgence

Did I miss something? Did D2 just come back to life again or did it become popular again a while ago? I only vaguely even remember hearing something about a new significant patch...

New Patch, New Stuff

They've been working on this patch for well over a year. It has some additional features, items, creatures, changed how some skills work, so it alters the game significantly.
