The Hamster Returns

See the thingy. Fear the rodent.

For the record, I don't think that's by the Blue Man Group, but it does sort of sound like it.

Wait...

Isn't it hampster?

Sort of

Hamster is the correct spelling for the rodent, but the current site (bleah) chooses to use hampster sometimes. So I don't know which would be correct here.

From the site...

Why Is Hampster Spelled With A "P"?

Many of you think I spelled Hampster wrong. I know the word hamster when referring generically to every member of my species is not spelled with a "p" and you know it's not spelled with a "p" but let's face it, I am no ordinary hamster. After all, how many hamsters do you know that can type well enough to create their own web page!

My name is Hampton Hampster™ and so for me Hampster is my formal last name and not the generic reference to my species. Since I am not your ordinary hamster I chose to spell my last name Hampster with a "P". Hey after all, it is my name and my web page so I get to have a little creative license don't I!

Hampton

So then,

I guess it would be "hamster" or "Hampster," referring to what the creature is or who the creature is respectively.

LOL

Good to know. ^_^

The original answer

Why Is Hampster Spelled With A "P"?

Because we don't know how to spell, so we made up a story to try to pretend we did it on purpose.
