I feel like a turncoat

I like artsy movies, I like cerebral plots, I like Bill Murray, and I like Japanese culture. But I found the critical lauded _Lost in Translation_, which I just rented, boring and devoid of plot with subpar humor spaced too far apart to save it. What's wrong with me?

Bad bad man!

Actually, I never got into it either. I enjoyed it well enough (though we got jacked for 9.25 each at 4:30 on a weekday at the arthouse theatre.. wtf?!), and I can see why people like it, but it didn't do anything for me. It seems sort of... flat to me, I guess.

haven't seen the end yet

Chris has tried to finish LiT on three separate occasions and has yet to see the end -- usually, it's because we stopped to get food.
Hey Chris, come over and watch the last bit soon cuz I need the 697mb it's taking up.

.

!!!

Awww. That's one of my favorite movies.

The melancholy, or flatness (or whatever the elusive words is that would describe the film), is I think one of its better elements. I came out of the movie feeling like I really identified with the characters, since I felt their mood throughout the movie was almost palatable.

Anyway. ::huff:: Fine. Don't like my movie. I see how it is.

I thought it was nifty because..

I've been to a lot of those places :) Story was ok, but I've never been a picky movie viewer anyway..

Matt's movie reviews

So, by your system, don't you have to dislike anime since you're not a cartoon?

!!

I thought it sounded like you enjoyed LiT only because you had been to the places.
