Cool device.

One of the many devices that won't be coming here any time soon. :(

Archos Video Player

However, Archos firmware for their MP3 players blow wild northern monkey goat. It is only the 3rd-party, open source Rockbox replacement that makes it usable. I'm unaware if a similar solution exists for their video models.

Hmm..

Well, the sony's only $450 vs the $750 Archos.. and I can't find any size specs or battery life specs for the Archos..

Don't get me wrong...

I'm not recommending the Archos. Love their MP3 player for its hardware simplicity (it's just an external 2.5" HDD with a backlit screen, built-in mic, and hardware MP3 encoder/decoder). But I don't really see a use for these devices.

Although... Actually, this would be cool for watching stuff I get from animesuki or whatever... OK, here's my ideal device: a DIVX-enabled DVD player with an interface that lets you watch movies, read text files, play MP3s, etc. Best of all worlds.

(I know, I know, it's called a laptop...)

OK

THAT is a cool PC. Although, note that the link is a site that SELLS them, so it's not really a proper review.

Well, yeah.

That site is one that imports all the cool laptops from Japan that will never be sold in the States.
