Matrix Revolutions!

I got to go see it with about 200 of my closest coworkers =). IMO, it was decent. I don't think *any* sequel can stack up to the first Matrix movie, as the mystery surrounding the Matrix and Neo are resolved during that movie. Special effects were awesome, plot was a little light but I don't expect special effects/action packed movies to be too in depth (why are they fighting again? Oh, yeah).

Anyhow, I thought it was good, not great. Anyone else see it yet? =)

Comments:

Not yet.

We get TUESDAY of next week off (but not Monday - yeesh) and I'll probably go to see it then, as most of the crowds will have probably seen it already (I hate crowded theatres).

Ew

I feel so disappointed. Didn't resolve any of the issues from Reloaded...why the heck did they even release that movie?! And half the characters that were brought in then were throw away characters now...and I expected so much more from them!

Wanna see it again soon to see if I can find any redeeming value to it. At least the fight scenes weren't overly long this time around.

Wow

To provide a counterpoint to the above, just saw it a coupla hours ago, and this is easily my favorite of the three. It's so much better than the other two that it justifies the necessary-but-crappy second movie as a transitional phase. Finally, they dump that shitty kung-fu crap and go with some real action.

Still undecided...

The first is still my favorite, and the second one was still pretty weak, but I'm not sure what I think yet. I really like that that actually fought for a purpose this time (as opposed to the ridiculous fight with the Smiths in the last movie), but the story of the original was much more interesting to me.

*** SPOILER ALERT ***

I think it's time to declare this a spoily zone. Leave 'till y'all have seen it.

Now, as for me, I pretty much base my decision on the gunslingin' mecha. Too cool for words. ^_^

Plot wise, I liked the much clearer Christian overtones. I'm all for a good allegory, and there was a good chunk of that - albeit very muddled - in II (and some simple but less prevalent stuff in I), but the God/Devil Christ/Antichrist stuff going on with Architecht/Oracle Neo/Smith was great.

The Last FIght = DBZ

I'm sorry, I have to say it. It immediately jumped to my mind when I saw it and I've seen *many* other people point and say "Look, DBZ!". Pretty weak for a DBZ fight, but still....

Actually...

The last fight is stolen from a Japanese movie. So much so that there are people in the message boards for it on IMDB calling it fraudulent (some people aren't real clear on the meaning of "homage")...

What movie?

I was thinking DBZ too, but the Japanese have quite a few of those kind of battles in all sorts of things..

"Injeong sajeong bol geot eobtda"

Never heard of it. IMDB link. Hmmm... I apologize, I was mistaken. That\'s not a Japanese movie. I\'d guess Chinese, based on the names.

OK...

Something is very, very wrong with the comment editor right now...

I thought so...

I was wondering if Neo died at the end or not. Makes sense that he does, a self-sacrifice to restore the Matrix.

Oh, and about that end fight, sure there are lots of spectacular fights like that in foriegn films, but not so many in the american ones. Probably the next closest 'popular' film that had such fights was Crouching Tigger, Hidden Dragon.
