English Sentence:
Jane went to the school.

Same Sentence In Japanese:
School Jane To Went Monkey Apple Carbeurator.

I took Japanese one summer. The problem was the teacher had a thick Chinese accent. Monkey Apple Carbeurator, indeed!

My Japanese teacher used to get very exasperated with us because we wouldn't understand "English" words. She'd have something like "Makudonarudo" on a test (in Katakana, no less) even though it hadn't been a vocabulary word, to test our knowledge of the alphabet. When the class complained, she'd say "What!? McDonald's is an English word!" She honestly couldn't understand why we couldn't see the connection immediately.

This is the same class with the "chinpokomon" affair. ^_^
